Scope

Engineering, supply and technical support

An integrated mounting solution developed to protect critical onboard equipment under demanding operating conditions.

The project

Reliable performance in an unpredictable environment

Equipment installed at sea is continuously exposed to vibration, vessel movement and occasional shock loads. The mounting system therefore had to provide effective isolation while maintaining stability under changing operating conditions. Rubber Design was asked to evaluate the installation and develop a solution around the equipment, available space and expected loads.

The challenge

Controlling multiple forces within one installation

The system had to isolate operational vibration, accommodate vessel motion and protect the equipment against sudden shock loads. Limited installation space and the interaction between the equipment and its supporting structure added to the technical complexity.

  • Reduce vibration transmission
  • Protect against shock loads
  • Control equipment movement
  • Fit within the available space
  • Maintain reliable long-term performance

Our solution

A mounting arrangement around the complete installation

Our engineers analysed the loads, natural frequencies and expected movements, and selected a combination of rubber and shock mountings. Each mounting was tested on stiffness before delivery.

The result

Stable operation in all conditions

The equipment now operates with significantly less vibration transmitted to the vessel structure, while movements remain within the required limits.
